Dear students,
the research field of the professorship for Social and Cultural Anthropology with a focus on Africa is seeking
to fill the position of a
Student assistant (m/f/d)
limited to one year, 40 hours per month, as soon as possible.
The student assistant will support a growing research group focusing on the critical analysis of contemporary
ecological-economic fault lines, especially in African contexts. We investigate how knowledge about the
environment and the economy emerges, circulates, contradicts itself, is contested and politicized and shapes
the futures of health and wellbeing. The PhD student will contribute to research and teaching and address
the interfaces of economic anthropology, environmental anthropology/environmental humanities and
postcolonial science and technology studies (STS).
Tasks:
• Support in research and teaching
• Literature management and editorial work
• Support in preparing, organizing and carrying out scientific events
What we offer:
• 40 hours /month
• Flexible working hours (working from home and/or from the office) upon agreement
• Remuneration is made in accordance with the applicable regulations for student assistants
What we expect:
• 2 completed semesters in Social and Cultural Anthropology or a closely related field
• Good computer skills (e.g. MS Office, E-Learning, social media…)
• Very good skills in writing and speaking German and English
• Experience in editing texts
• Proven ability to work in a team as well as independently
• First experiences with citation and literature management systems desired (i.e. Endnote or Zotero)
